Why is one of the drivers not working on my passive speaker?

If you find that one of the drivers (tweeter, midrange, or woofer) is not outputting sound, there are a number of steps you can take to fix this. These steps can also be used when your speaker has static or crackling.
  • Check the speaker wire connections at the speaker and the receiver/amplifier.
  • Disconnect the speaker wires at both ends and reconnect them.
  • Switch the affected speaker to the opposite channel on the receiver (ie Left to Right). If the issue follows the speaker, continue below.
  • Disconnect the speaker from power and remove the affected driver, the wires are clipped on for easy removal. Reconnect the driver and test again. If the issue continues, swap the affected driver with the same driver on the opposite speaker. If the issue follows the driver, a replacement driver will be required.

Floorstanding Speakers:

Our floorstanding speakers include bridge pins or plates to bridge the binding posts between the top and bottom when the speakers are not bi-amped. If these pins are removed or missing, You may hear sound from only the high end or only the low end. If the bridges are missing, you can use a piece of speaker wire between them, or contact our Customer Experience Team to purchase replacements.
