Why does my tonearm bounce when I lift it?

If your tonearm bounces when you lift it, you may be lifting the cueing lever too quickly. In order to ensure the best possible tracking of the record grooves, there is a minimal amount of tension on the tonearm which makes it very sensitive when lifted.
