Can I upgrade the cartridge on my turntable?

The information below is a guideline for cartridge upgrade options. We cannot test all available cartridges on our turntables and cannot guarantee full compatibility. While many users have installed different cartridges, we offer the cartridge options that perform best on our turntables. We cannot confirm if a cartridge is compatible and cannot guarantee optimal performance from cartridges outside those we offer with our products.

CLASSIC/ELITE - RT80 & RT81
Shipped with the Audio-Technica ATN91 or ATN95E cartridges. These turntables can support cartridges between 3.5 and 6.5 grams with a height of 17mm and a vertical tracking angle of 20°. These tables can also be upgraded to the AT-VM95 cartridge and are compatible with all of the stylus options on that platform.

*The RT81 is compatible with the Ortofon 2M Red.  It is not compatible with the 2M Blue as it is more affected by differences in tonearm specifications.

RT81+
RT81+ is compatible with the full range of AT-VM95 stylus options such as the AT-VM95ML! It is also compatible with the Ortofon 2M Red. It is not compatible with the 2M Blue as it is more affected by differences in tonearm specifications.

This model can support cartridges between 3.5 and 6.5 grams with a height of 17mm and a vertical tracking angle of 23°.
