What is the longest RCA cable I can use for a turntable?
While the exact measurement varies based on the quality and specifications of the cable, we recommend keeping cables 6' (1.8m) or less and rated as low capacitance.
If you need a longer cable run, you can use an external preamp which allows you to to combine two shorter cables over a longer distance. When using an external preamp, any built-in preamps must be bypassed or disabled to avoid over-amplification.
What happens if the cables are too long?
If the cables are too long, the signal will be degraded. You may experience humming, buzzing, or distortion.
