How to connect Fluance turntables to a preamp and powered speakers
One of the most common turntable setups is using a turntable, a phono preamp, and a set of powered bookshelf speakers. In this video, we will show you how to set up a Fluance Reference turntable with a set of Powered Bookshelf Speakers, and a new Fluance PA10 phono preamp. The PA10 phono preamp can be used with any turntable using a moving magnet (MM) cartridge and stylus. It helps to boost the turntable signal to line level where speakers and amplifiers can accept it and push it through your favorite speakers. If your speakers or amplifier do not have a PHONO connection, you are likely to need a preamp. We use Fluance products in this video, but the instructions apply to most turntables, phono preamps, and powered bookshelf speakers.
Before starting this process, if your turntable has a built-in preamp as our Classic and Elite turntables do, you will need to bypass the built-in preamp by flipping the switch to the PHONO position.
Start by laying out the parts you’ll need to complete this setup.
• PA10 Preamp
• PA10 Power Adapter
• Two RCA cables
• Ground wire
Next, follow these steps to connect your turntable to the preamp and speakers:
- Connect the red and white plugs on one side of each RCA cable to the Input and Output RCA connections on the PA10.
- Connect the input cable to the turntable RCA connections.
- Connect the output cable to the RCA ports on the back of the Ai41/Ai61/Ai81).
- Loosen the groundings nut on the turntable and preamp. Slide the ground cable connector under the grounding nut as close to the body of the preamp as possible.
- Tighten the grounding nut.
- Repeat this process on the turntable.
- With the audio cables plugged in, you can now connect the power adapter.
- For best results, connect the power adapter directly to a wall outlet.
- The preamp will turn on once power is connected. When powered on, you will see an indicator LED on the front of the device.
Now you’re ready to put on a record and enjoy your favorite music!
